7 Best Smart Rings For Tracking Your Biohacking Progress

Smart rings are advanced biohacking wearables that come in tiny packages. Unlike bulky smartwatches, these sleek wearables sit subtly on your finger while tracking your health, sleep, and fitness.

They’re designed for simplicity and longevity. Most offer up to a week of battery life, are waterproof, and sync seamlessly with your smartphone. The best part of smart rings is that they eliminate screen distractions. You wear it and forget it.

For people who want health data without being glued to a screen, smart rings are a game-changer. They make it effortless to track things like heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, sleep cycles, heart rate variability and fitness activity. And they do it in a way that feels minimalist, not invasive.

Whether you’re a fitness nut, a biohacker, a sleep-deprived entrepreneur, or someone trying to stay in tune with your body, smart rings can help you dial in your habits and routines. They’re also great for people who hate wearing watches.

The Key Health Metrics To Understand First:

Only 12% of Americans are considered metabolically healthy (other countries aren’t far behind).

The modern sedentary lifestyle leads to chronic stress, insulin resistance and nervous system dysregulation, which manifests in a whole host of mental health problems like depression, anxiety and burnout — which are many scientists now consider metabolic diseases of the brain.

While we usually think of metabolic diseases of the body like diabetes, heart disease and obesity, metabolic health is crucial not just for preventing chronic health conditions but also for consistent high energy and peak cognitive performance.

One of the best ways to start improving your physical and mental health is by using a smart ring to track what’s going on inside your body.

Here are the metrics that most smart rings can track and why they are important:

1. HRV: Heart rate variability is a measure of the variability between your heartbeats (the greater the variability, the healthier your heart). This is a great health metric because it allows you to track your stress levels, recovery and nervous system regulation over time.

2. VO2 Max: A measure of the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during intense exercise. It’s a key indicator of cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance as well as the efficiency of your mitochondria. Longevity expert Dr. Peter Attia calls VO2 Max the “greatest predictor of lifespan”.

3. SpO2: Similar but slightly different from VO2 Max, SpO2 indicates the percentage of hemoglobin in your blood that is saturated with oxygen. It reflects your ability to deliver oxygen to the blood to power your mitochondria and is a crucial indicator of respiratory health.

4. Sleep Cycles: Your brain and body go through sleep cycles each night while you are asleep. Smart rings tend to be superior at tracking sleep compared to smartwatches. Measuring your time in deep sleep is a good reflection of the quality of your sleep.

5. Apnea Events: During sleep, it is common to experience apnea events, where we temporarily stop breathing. This happens to everyone, but if it occurs more than five times an hour, you may have sleep apnea, which ranges from mild to moderate and severe. Sleep apnea can destroy your health over time.

6. Blood Pressure: The holy grail of health wearables is 24-hour blood pressure tracking. Nearly half the population has high blood pressure (most don’t know it), and this chronic and reversible condition leads to heart disease, strokes and a whole host of long-term negative health outcomes.

7. Respiratory Rate: An easy-to-track vital sign that can indicate a person’s overall health and well-being. Many chronic conditions are caused by disordered breathing and mouth breathing that lead to poor quality sleep and symptoms that mimic ADHD.

8. Heart Rate: This is a good measure for fitness training to get into your target heart rate zone when doing cardiovascular exercise. The best way to reduce stress and anxiety is to get into your target heart rate zone, where stress is literally burned off (but the average sedentary person rarely gets to this point).

Most smart rings can track most of these metrics (with apnea events and blood pressure less common) and they have AI algorithms in their apps that can combine these metrics to give you a snapshot of your overall physical and mental health, along with excellent recommendations to improve your health.

A Review Of The Best Smart Rings In 2025:

Okay, with that technical stuff out of the way, let’s break down the top smart rings on the market in 2025 and see what makes each one unique in terms of their features and the metrics they track for you.

1. Oura Ring Gen 4

Oura Ring Gen 4

The Oura Ring 4 came out in the fall of 2024 and it slightly improves on the Gen 3 with a full titanium build, sleeker recessed sensors, a better fit (sizes 4–15), an extra day of battery life and upgraded “smart sensing” tech that boosts accuracy using 18 signal pathways instead of 8.

Oura is the most well-known smart ring brand, with a strong reputation for tracking sleep and recovery. It tracks heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature variation to provide a “Readiness Score” that tells you how recovered your body is each day.

Its minimal design is sleek and durable, made from lightweight titanium. It doesn’t have screens or buzzers, which keeps it from feeling like tech. The battery lasts around 4–7 days, and it’s fully waterproof. The app breaks down your health into three simple scores: Sleep, Activity, and Readiness.

The only downside is the monthly subscription. Without it, you lose access to most of the insights. But with it, you get world-class sleep analytics and helpful daily recommendations. For serious sleep optimization and recovery tracking, Oura is still the champ.

If you want to save money, the Oura Ring Gen 3 isn’t much different than the Gen 4, and it is $50 cheaper to buy.

The Oura App:

2. Ultrahuman Ring AIR

Ultrahuman Ring Air

Ultrahuman built its reputation with continuous glucose monitors and expanded into smart rings for metabolic health and performance tracking. This ring focuses on giving you data to improve how you eat, train, and recover, with a minimalist, featherlight form factor.

Its Energy Index and Movement Index offer quick insight into your strain vs. recovery balance. Paired with the Ultrahuman’s proprietary Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), it becomes a full-body feedback loop for people looking to optimize energy and productivity. It also includes skin temperature, sleep analysis, and HRV tracking.

What sets it apart is its integration with metabolic health. If you’re into fitness, fasting, or functional health, it gives you the tools to see how your habits affect your body in real time. Plus, no subscription is required for this smart ring, which is a big win.

3. RingConn 2 Smart Ring

Ringconn 2

The RingConn 2 is the best value-for-money option for people who want full access to their health data without ongoing costs. It covers all the core tracking categories, including sleep, HRV, heart rate, temperature, and SpO2. Plus, it offers raw data access for power users.

The ring has a matte finish and a subtle, stylish look. It’s waterproof, lasts up to 7 days, and includes a neat charging dock that magnetically stores and charges the ring. Their app is well designed, though not quite as polished as Oura’s.

I decided to go with the RingConn 2 for my biohacking tracker because it features something that I feel is essential, which is sleep apnea tracking. By some estimates, up to 25% of the population has sleep apnea and it can massively reduce lifespan and create attentiveness and brain fog symptoms similar to ADHD.

Regardless of whether you may have the diagnosable condition of sleep apnea (which ranges from mild to moderate to severe), tracking your nightly apnea events where you temporarily stop breathing provides a window into stress levels and mouth breathing while sleeping, which makes it easy to measure how food, alcohol, drugs and stressors affect your nevous system.

The other big draw for the RingConn 2 is the fact that it doesn’t hide data behind a paywall. You buy the smart ring once and get full access to your data forever. This makes it ideal for data geeks, quantified self biohackers or anyone who just wants solid health tracking with no strings attached.

5. Circular Ring Slim

Circular Ring Slim

Circular’s biggest draw is its customizability. You can change the outer shell for different looks, set custom vibration alerts, and use a smart alarm to wake you during light sleep. It’s the only smart ring with that level of interactivity.

7. Prevention Circul+ Ring

Circul Ring

The Prevention Circul+ Ring is a health-focused smart ring designed for continuous monitoring of vital signs. What makes it stand out is that it is one of the few smart rings with the ability to monitor blood pressure, which is one of the next frontiers of biohacking wearables.

The blood pressure feature works in tandem with the ring’s built-in sensors and its companion app. It delivers readings that can be tracked over time, offering a non-invasive way to keep an eye on hypertension risks. While not a replacement for a traditional cuff or doctor’s evaluation, it’s a valuable tool for long-term trends and early detection.

The Circul+ Ring provides comprehensive sleep tracking, including REM, light, deep, and awake stages, along with overnight SpO2 and heart rate monitoring. It also tracks daytime activity metrics such as steps and calories burned.

What makes the Circul+ special is its medical orientation. It’s not just a lifestyle tracker, it’s a real-time health monitor. With adjustable sizing, all-night monitoring, and downloadable health reports, it’s especially useful for older adults, caregivers, or anyone who wants to keep their vitals in check between doctor visits.

I wasn’t able to get a demo smart ring to try this one for myself, so I can’t vouch for its accuracy so I would only recommend this smart ring for people with chronic conditions or cardiovascular problems, but it’s a good idea to discuss it with your doctor before purchasing it.

Which Smart Ring Is Best For You?

If sleep is your main focus, Oura Ring Gen 4 still wears the crown. Its insights, readiness score, and long-term data tracking are unmatched.

If you’re looking for metabolic feedback and peak performance optimization, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR is your best bet, especially if you’re an athlete who already uses Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM).

The RingConn 2 provides you with full access to your data and sleep apnea tracking features at no additional fees. It’s perfect if you want ownership of your data and don’t want a monthly bill.

For women looking for something stylish and made with their unique physiology in mind, the Evie Ring nails the balance between fashion and function but it may have been released too soon.

And if you want smart alerts, gentle alarms, or even guided breathing built into your ring, Circular Ring 2 brings a fun techie twist for biohackers.

Why Smart Rings Are The Future of Wearable Health

I believe smart rings are the future of wearable health because they pack powerful tracking tools into something you’d wear anyway. No distractions, no fuss.

I also have an Apple Watch that I use for some biohacking metrics, but I spend far more time setting it up to charge the battery every night than I use the device during the day.

I think smart rings are especially useful for people who want to dial in their recovery habits, get better sleep, and optimize their overall performance without needing another screen to distract them.

The Oura Ring is still the gold standard, but the market’s heating up. Whether you value aesthetics, pricing, open data, or coaching features, there’s a smart ring out there for you.

The best smart ring for you? It’s the one that fits your lifestyle and helps you stay consistent with your goals. Think of a smart ring as a tiny accountability buddy wrapped around your finger.
